Calvin Arsenia

Showcasing the work of the alternative fashion community for 25 years, The West 18th Street Fashion Show is a staple of the artistic community in Kansas City and beyond. Handmade creations are put on display in celebration of the prolific artists and creatives who call the Crossroads Arts District home. The West 18th Street Fashion Show presents a new theme each year with its call for submission, inviting designers and models to create new work inspired by the theme. 

In 2019, Calvin Arsenia was asked to join as the Musical Director of the show, bringing his experience in crafting tailor-made musical pairings for each collection. Arsenia stunned audiences in 2019, opening the show with Gershwin's Summertime on solo electric harp and voice accompanied by a brass ensemble. 

Over the following years, Arsenia has continued his role, selecting songs for the individual collection, hiring musicians, scoring parts, arranging music, coordinating rehearsals, and performing. It is one of his greatest treasures to help bring to life this magical celebration of arts in Kansas City.
